Spring Opening Mass

About 30 people participated in the 40 Days for Life kick-off Mass hosted by St. Monica parish. Fr. Jeremy Gries and Fr. Todd Goodson concelebrated the Mass. At the end of the Mass Fr. Jeremy gave a special blessing to all those present. He used the Church's blessing for missionaries telling our 40 Days people they were missionaries for the gospel of life.

After the Mass everyone was invited to have coffee and bagels and fellowship for a while before taking off to the 86th St. abortion facility to pray with Shield of Roses and to learn more about the upcoming 40 Days for Life prayer campaign.

Shield of Roses is a group started over 4 years ago by Fr. Shaun Whittington to pray at the 86th St. facility. Parishioners from St. Monica and other parishes surrounding the facility pray the Rosary and the Divine Mercy Chaplet every Saturday morning at 9:30 am. Shield of Roses would love to have you join them any Saturday of the year. (During Lent they will begin at 9:00 rather than 9:30.) On the 13th, after the 40 Days Mass, about 15 people braved the snow and the cold to pray for an hour.
